I was born in Philadelphia, PA. Both of my parents were in the military and we moved around a lot when I was young. When my father finally retired from the military, we settled here in NJ and here is where I have stayed. My husband and I currently reside in Burlington County and we are 20 minutes from Philadelphia. I have a younger sister who has two children and they live out in PA. I love being an aunt! My husband, Tom, is a chef and we adopted a dog, named Ralph, from the Burlington County SPCA. I love animals and used to work at a veterinarian hospital while in college. Before college, I used to work for a distribution corporation. It was then that I decided to go back to school for teaching. Changing careers took a lot of time, patience, and hard work. I finally graduated with my Bachelor's Degree in Natural Science and Education in 2011 from Georgian Court University.
I began teaching in 2006 though, working in a Head Start Preschool, where I stayed for three years before switching to public school teaching. I have worked in South River, Asbury Park, Woodbridge, Princeton, and Millstone Twp. I now have the fortunate opportunity to work here in Holmdel Township. I started my career here as a 6th Grade Science Teacher and look forward to what this school year has in store. I have had the pleasure of working with and getting to know Mrs. Broadhurst for the past several years while here at Holmdel and I am super excited that we will be together again this year. We have quite an amazing work dynamic and I am sure you will love our class as much as we love teaching Science collaboratively!
I plan to go back to school for a Masters in STEM as soon as the program gets up and running at TCNJ and look forward to getting started!
Tom and I enjoy traveling, hiking, and going to concerts when we can. I also enjoy practicing mindfulness, yoga, listening to music, taking care of my pets, gardening, camping, reading, being an aunt, spending time with my friends, bowling, watching ice hockey, taking things apart and putting them back together, but, most of all, being a science teacher!
